Businessman 'Pascal Musavaya' jailed for punching hotel staffer

Three police officers were on Tuesday arrested, while three others are still on the run after they allegedly shared the US$22 000 they recovered during investigations.

lt is understood that Cornellius Chimukange and Nesbert Kachungwe from JP Security picked up US$53 000 that had been dropped by fleeing armed robbers at Quest Financial Services in Belgravia, Harare.

Six police officers then allegedly recovered the money from the two security guards.

Chimukange and Kachungwe were arrested and appeared in court where they admitted that they picked up the money and shared it among themselves.

The duo was jailed for two years each on theft charges and told the court that they bought various properties before the six police officers nabbed them with the remaining US$22 000.

Mukangwe was left with US$15 000, while Kachungwe had US$7 000.

Upon recovering the loot during investigations, Detective Sergeant Since Asima (38) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Traffic, Constable Perseverance Chisango (32) of Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Southerton and Constable Weston Muzoriwa (37) of ZRP Dombotombo then allegedly shared the money.

Asima, Chisango and Muzoriwa were arrested and are expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Constable Paradzai Matubu of ZRP Bindura Rural, Constables Fredrick Moyo and Prosper Chimbumu, both of ZRP Harare Central, are still on the run.
