Tino Kadewere Leaves Olympique Lyon for Nantes in Ligue 1 Switch

WHEN Zimbabwe international striker Tino Kadewere left Olympique Lyon for Franch Ligue 1 rivals Nantes for the remainder of the season pending a permanent transfer, his new club was sitting higher on the standings.

Two months down the line, Lyon are now 10th in the 18-team league and further from the relegation zone they occupied for the first half of the season.

On the other hand, Nantes are now in 16th place, occupying the third and final relegation slot, six points behind Lyon.

As things stand, Nantes will be relegated at the end of the season while Lyon will be safely into the next French Ligue 1 campaign.

Tomorrow, Nantes are involved in a six-pointer at home to Strasbourg who are also in the relegation mix and just one point above Kadewere’s team.

Nantes have lost three of their last five matches and won the remainder while scoring just three goals against seven.

Kadewere and company have fired blanks in three of the last four matches, a worrying statistic that spells doom.

Tomorrow Nantes have a chance to redeem themselves against a Strasbourg side that is winless in the last five matches and also struggling to score goals.
