The use of a STOLEN cell phone helped identify the persons who may have slain a 73-year-old man and taken his possessions, including the device.

Inspector Abednico Ncube, the spokesman for the Bulawayo police, stated in a statement that on December 29, 2018, at 8 a.m., the now-deceased John Sithole (73), of Nkulumane 5, left his house to go to his fields in Donnington, Bulawayo.

His children were alarmed and had to accompany him to the fields as dad had not returned home as usual.

Sithole was discovered by the kids in a bloody puddle.

Ncube reported that Sithole was missing his smartphone and had a large cut on the back of his head.

There was a police report filed. It was subsequently found, after much research with the public’s help, that Felix Nyakadumba of Mpopoma had purchased his cell phone,” he claimed.

When he was questioned, it became clear that the smartphone had been purchased from Simbarashe Maphosa, one of the accused, which resulted in his detention. Maphosa acknowledged carrying out the crime alongside his accomplices, Mdudusi Dlamini and Bhekisisa Moyo, who were both detained, and another adult male individual known only as Kanga, who is currently at large.”
