A 19-year-old resident of Matobo finds himself facing a murder charge following a brutal knife assault on a 22-year-old man. The altercation, steeped in a dispute over a love affair, unfolded when the victim confronted the accused, accusing him of inappropriate advances toward the victim’s 15-year-old niece.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, has been confirmed by local law enforcement authorities. This distressing occurrence adds to a disturbing pattern of homicide incidents involving both teenage victims and perpetrators across the nation.

According to police reports, Raisemore Maseko, 19, stands accused of fatally stabbing Phikisani Moyo, 22, with a knife, inflicting wounds to the neck, back, and stomach, subsequent to a heated argument on April 27, 2024, at Halale Village in Matobo.
“The suspect had purportedly expressed romantic interest in the victim’s underage relative,” stated the police in an official release on Sunday.
In a separate incident, Ashley Ndou, 23, and Prospect Ziyengwa, 27, residents of Beitbridge, have been implicated in an attempted murder case involving Ward 3 councillor Mr. Takavingei Mahachi on Independence Day.
Allegedly, the pair attacked the councillor at his residence in the Tshidixwa district, inflicting severe injuries to his left arm and chest with a knife. The assailants then fled the scene with the assistance of an unidentified third individual.
Ndou and Ziyengwa made a court appearance before resident judge Mr. Takudzwa Gwazemba in Beitbridge, where they were formally charged with attempted murder. They refrained from entering a plea and have been remanded in custody until May 6.
The harrowing incident transpired around 9 o’clock on Independence Day, as the three assailants ambushed Councillor Mahachi near his parked vehicle, with the violent act witnessed by a vigilant neighbor.
