The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival’s provincial finals are relocating to Matabeleland North this Saturday, where various dance groups will showcase their talents at the New Tavern Beerhall in Victoria Falls.
At the recent Matabeleland South finals held at Colleen Bawn Bar, Bolamba Performing Arts from Kafusi in rural Gwanda emerged victorious, impressing the audience with their captivating Sepata dance. They outshone nine other dance groups to claim the top spot.
Following closely behind were Inqama Yophondo with their Amabhiza dance, and Sekusile group securing third place with their Isitshikitsha dance.
With three provincial wins under their belt, Bolamba Performing Arts is aiming for national champion status this year. Africa Mathe, one of the group’s founders, expressed confidence in their ability to bring the trophy home to Matabeleland South province.
“In the three times we’ve made it to the finals, we’ve grown and learned from talents across the country,” Mathe stated, emphasizing their dedication to representing their community and province with pride.
“We’re determined to practice diligently, correct our mistakes, and hopefully bring joy to the people of Kafusi and the entire province,” Mathe added.

Hosiah Chipanga Disappointed In Independence Gala Performance Lineup.
Veteran musician Hosiah Chipanga has expressed his disappointment after the organisers of the Independence Gala in Murambinda excluded him from the list of performing artists for tomorrow’s event.
Ironically, the highly anticipated Uhuru Gala is taking place in Chipanga’s home province of Manicaland.
In a social media post, Hosiah Chipanga claimed that the organisers informed him that he had been excluded from performing at the event for criticising the government. Wrote Chipanga:
I am deeply hurt, my family, friends and fans that even though I am a citizen and musician of Zimbabwe I will not be able to perform and celebrate the 44 years of independence in Murambinda, Manicaland which is also my hometown. Organisers from the Information Ministry said I criticise the government.

Taking to social media, Chipanga revealed that he was informed by the organizers that he wouldn’t be performing due to his criticism of the government.
The gala is set for Murambinda B High School as part of the country’s 44th independence celebrations and admission is free.
Some of the musicians expected to grace the occasion are Sulumani Chimbetu, Nicholas Zacharia, Sandra Ndebele, Diana Samkange, Mark Ngwazi, Simon Mutambi, Shantel Sithole, Chillspot Family, and Jah Master.
Zimbabwe celebrates its independence from Great Britain on April 18, which came about in 1980 after 16 years of a protracted bush war that claimed the lives of thousands of people.
