Harare Court to Rule on Controversial Vehicle Ownership Dispute Tomorrow

Businessman 'Pascal Musavaya' jailed for punching hotel staffer

A Harare Provincial magistrate is set to deliver a judgment tomorrow in the case of Ronald Nyandoro, who is accused of stealing a motor vehicle.

Nyandoro, represented by his lawyer Mr. Admire Rubaya, has pleaded not guilty, claiming that the complainant, James Landon, gave him the car as payment for services rendered.

During the trial, the State’s first witness, Mr. Kirk West, testified that he believes Landon is retaliating against him for disclosing details of their vehicle transaction.

He mentioned that he has lost two cars to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) due to irregular paperwork and accused Landon of misusing the criminal justice system.

The second witness, Mr. Lance Malloch Brown, stated during cross-examination that he is unaware of any dealings between Landon and Nyandoro.

He denied knowledge of any agreement between the two and said he does not know who possesses the original registration book.

Nyandoro refuted the allegations that he was entrusted with the motor vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser AET 3438, to use and then return to the complainant.

He testified that there was no trust agreement and that Landon gave him the vehicle as payment for consultancy services provided during a dispute Landon had with another businessman, Adam Woodington, which led to Landon’s arrest.

Nyandoro asserted that he performed various duties for Landon as his consultant and became the owner of the vehicle in November 2022 as compensation for his aircraft consultancy fees.

He also stated that Landon gave him the duplicate registration book in 2023.
