A constable begged a police officer to move so that he could be nearer to his disabled son’s special education, but the officer cruelly refused.
A police officer, in a heartless act, refused a constable’s plea for a transfer to be closer to his disabled son’s special school. The Officer Commanding Mashonaland West Province, Assistant Commissioner Tawonei Nyazema, initially demanded the constable, F. Chitembetembe, either resign or remain at his current post in Siakobvu.

Chitembetembe’s son, Donald, attends Rubatsiro Zimcare Trust in Kadoma, and his mother, Lorine Chuma, a teacher, works in the same town. Despite Chitembetembe’s earnest request for transfer to Kadoma, Nyazema gave him an ultimatum.
However, after public outrage over the decision, Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga stepped in and reversed the directive. Matanga instructed the ZRP’s Human Resources Department to prioritize the welfare of Chitembetembe’s family.
The reversal came after widespread condemnation of the initial decision on social media platforms. Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP national spokesperson, expressed gratitude to those who raised concerns and affirmed the police force’s commitment to addressing family welfare issues promptly.
“The Commissioner-General of Police has taken note of the viral social media post on Constable Chitembetembe of ZRP Siakobvu’s urgent family welfare issue.
“The public is accordingly advised that the Commissioner-General of Police, Tandabantu Godwin Matanga, has immediately corrected the anomaly and directed the ZRP’s Human Resources Department to ensure that the member’s family welfare is prioritized.
“The ZRP takes this opportunity to thank all who raised concern over this viral social media post on the member’s family welfare,” said Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP national spokesperson.
