    Prison Officer Sentenced to Five Years for Govt Complex Break-ins

    Security Official Faces Court Over Alleged Theft of US$11,000

    Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services found themselves disciplining one of their own as a Prison Officer , Kwandokuhle Ndethi, decided to dabble in unauthorized activities, breaking into the Mgandane Dlodlo Building in Harare.

    Now, he’s facing the consequence of his actions with a seven-year sentence, albeit with two years suspended, leaving him with an effective five-year term.

    Ndethi’s ventures into the building involved multiple instances of pilfering HP computer equipment, including monitors, CPUs, printers, and cables.

    His exploits included a break-in at the Attorney General’s office on March 27, where he made off with an HP monitor and two printers. Subsequent break-ins at the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education offices on April 1, 3, and 5 resulted in the theft of various HP computers and printers.

    On April 2, Ndethi also targeted the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion, snatching yet more HP computers and printers.

    The court proved that on April 2 he also broke into the offices of the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion and stole an assortment of HP computers and printers.
    The total value of property stolen was US$8 350 and everything was recovered.
    Although Prison Officer , Kwandokuhle Ndethi managed to abscond with items totaling US$8,350 in value, authorities were able to recover all the stolen property.
