A Securico security officer, assigned to guard the OK Zimbabwe Fife Avenue supermarket, is now facing theft charges for allegedly pilfering groceries valued at over ZW$2.5 million.
After appearing before a Harare court, 42-year-old Safarawo Nyandoro was placed under arrest remand.
According to the prosecution, Nyandoro worked for Securico and was based at the OK Zimbabwe Fife Avenue store. He was in charge of the upstairs parking lot, which houses the supermarket’s warehouse. He was also in charge of the CCTV system in the store.
Between December 9, 2021, and January 12, 2022, Nyandoro allegedly came up with a plan to rob the complainant. While on duty, he is accused of stealing various groceries from the warehouse for ZW$2,527,045 in total.

In addition, the prosecution claims Nyandoro covered the CCTV cameras with cloth during the theft in order to interfere with the equipment and avoid recording. He’d remove the obstruction after he’d done the crime.
When the complainant looked through CCTV evidence, Nyandoro’s activities were revealed, bringing the offence to light. It was also found that Nyandoro would show up for work an hour ahead of time in order to complete the heist.
The complainant lost ZW$2,527,045 due to Nyandoro’s purported acts, and no money has been recovered as of yet.
