A s*x worker has been detained in custody following her court appearance on charges of facilitating the r*ape of her friend’s teenage sister.
Lorraine Maponga, aged 30, stood before Magistrate Taurai Manuwere and was not required to enter a plea for the r*ape charge.
According to the prosecution, led by Tambudzai Masamvi, the incident occurred last week when the 13-year-old victim was entrusted with US$20 by her mother for safekeeping.

However, upon her mother’s return, the child failed to return the money and fled home out of fear of punishment.
Over the next two days, she intermittently returned home after everyone had gone to bed. On April 19, she did not return home and spent the night at Maponga’s residence. That evening, Maponga arrived with two men and instructed the victim to comply with their demands.
Allegedly, the two men instructed the victim to undress, claiming Maponga had granted them permission to engage in s*xual intercourse with her. Subsequently, all parties engaged in what was described as a ‘foursome.’
Upon returning home the next morning, the child informed her mother of the r*ape , leading to her being taken to the authorities for a mental examination.
Due to the severity of the offense, Maponga was advised to seek bail from the High Court.
