A vehicle carrying 1.5 tons of shelled corn ( maize ) was taken by criminals, posing a threat to a soldier serving in the Zimbabwe National Army.
When Sergeant Ticharwa Mafuruse, 37, parked a ZNA Nissan UD40 truck (08DB11) at the New Style Bar, Gazebo Shops, in Caledonia, to buy smokes, an incident took place on Friday.

Sgt Mafuruse was caught off guard when two unidentified people took advantage of the situation and sped off with the car while leaving the keys in the ignition.
Sgt. Mafuruse’s left arm and ankle were hurt in spite of his attempts to step in. Around six o’clock in the evening, the event happened, and Sgt. Mafuruse was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the spokesperson for the Harare provincial police, confirmed the incident and said that investigations were in progress to ascertain the overall value of the stolen products in addition to the theft of the car and its contents.
“Police are investigating a theft of a motor vehicle loaded with shelled maize in Caledonia.
“The total value stolen is to be supplied,” said Insp Chakanza.
