When a guard meant to uphold the law becomes a perpetrator of theft, the irony is stark. Such was the case when a suspected thief, employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, embarked on a series of thefts within the New Government Complex.
Kwandokuhle Ndethi appeared in court over the weekend facing eight theft counts of computer hardware.
Operating with audacity, Kwandokuhle Ndethi found his way into various offices, making off with valuable computer hardware. His spree led to his appearance in court, facing charges of unlawful entry.

In one instance, on March 27, Ndethi brazenly entered the office of the Attorney General, making off with an HP Monitor and two HP printers.
He continued his illicit activities on April 1, stealing an HP printer from the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education offices. April 3 saw him strike again in the same department, this time taking three HP computers.
Not limiting his targets, Ndethi ventured into the Finance Ministry procurement department on April 2, pilfering an HP computer and printer.
His criminal endeavors weren’t isolated to April; in January, he had already made away with six printers, a 55-inch television set, and a power bank from the same department.
However, luck eluded him as he was apprehended during his latest attempt. His arrest led to the recovery of some of the stolen equipment, bringing an end to his illicit escapades.
